One of the real challenges that we are facing is that local chapters are more frequently underreporting membership and underpaying dues. They wait until they determine who is going to participate in a conference, for instance, and then pay dues only for those members. One of the real issues here is that there is essentially no effective method for detecting, or enforcing, the "pay for everyone" rule ... and there ...more »
A lot of money is spent for chapters to travel to the NFLCs. While the keynote Josh Shipp was awesome, the workshops were full of speakers who were just selling stuff and imparting information that most teachers could give you in school. Perhaps an integrated approach might be better, by hiring a company to produce the workshops at the NFLCs, just like the IFL. Speakers can also sign up to speak as well just like the ...more »
The current FBLA-PBL website provides the basic information about FBLA-PBL but does not do a good job of going beyond the basics. Many sections of the site are almost never updated and have outdated information. The website also doesn't market the experience and brand of FBLA-PBL while providing important and interesting information for members/advisers. The site needs to be redesigned to more adequately meet the needs ...more »
I really like our current membership recruitment video. However, the length makes it hard to put on the school announcements and other school media outlets. What if we had two videos- one regular length video, and one abridged, thirty second video? This will allow our chapters to better advertise and recruit new members by being able to choose between videos to suit their needs!
I think it would be a great idea for PBL chapters trying to recruit new members, instead of just saying Phi Beta Lambda, use FBLA-PBL so that you can get those members who were apart of FBLA and may not be real familiar with PBL. I have heard this works with many schools. We are a lifetime organization, why not promote it that way.
It is most likely have been said before, but why don't we have a way to watch the NCL awards and/or competitions. I understand that that may be considered as a privilege for placing for nationals, but it would help other grasp their subjects and leave them with fresh knowledge as to who they are competing against and what to expect.
A favorite game to play ever since I could understand the sense of winning and strategy was Monopoly, the long, aggressive game that many people in business come to love. Discussed about by numerous people before, I came across a discussion by Julianna Nadel (@julianna.nadel) to implement a competitive Monopoly Tournament into various events, such as the National Leadership Conference. As Area 4 Vice President for Texas ...more »
I think FBLA should integrated competitive events related to administrative support and office management, such as Office Administrative Procedures, Document Management, Records Management, Legal and Medical Office Procedures, etc.
There are many scholarships out there for FBLA members but when I do scholarship searches on sites such as College Board, they don't even have FBLA as an option for an organization. It would be nice if FBLA could get on the list of organizations on various scholarship sites, that way members can see their options!
Many students play a stock market game in their HS business classes, and it is quite popular. The current stock market game would get more attention if you didn't have to pay for it and if it were an actual competitive event. Make this a competitive event, and it would probably be quite popular.
In the cyber world we live FBLA should seek to provide members an more organized and centralized website. My suggestion would be a website similar to HOSA's which allows membership affiliation, competition affiliation, regional, state and national conference registration all on the same website while extending its services to provide online competition testing on its website. Maybe National FBLA could contact National ...more »
