It would be awesome if there was a centralized location (web site/database) where chapters could post and share their projects. Advisers and members could go here for inspiration and ideas for recruitment, fundraising, service learning, and so forth. We should let advisers set up a subdomain (schoolname.fbla.org) that redirects to the chapters website. That way it is up to the chapter to create their own website where they see fit, but they don't have to buy a domain name.
Similar student organizations have already gone international (I.e. DECA). If FBLA is the largest student organization in the world without being international imagine the possabilities by expanding to other countries.
Training for our new advisers. My adviser had a hard time this year since she was new and should have received a training.
I think it would be a great idea for PBL chapters trying to recruit new members, instead of just saying Phi Beta Lambda, use FBLA-PBL so that you can get those members who were apart of FBLA and may not be real familiar with PBL. I have heard this works with many schools. We are a lifetime organization, why not promote it that way.
This club is for FUTURE business leaders, right? Most of the members are high schoolers who are interested in a business-related occupation. FBLA has many sponsors. So, what if FBLA can team up with their business sponsors to provide summer internship/job-shadowing for their FBLA members so they can overlook the careers they might want to pursue. On the website, I fail to see a tab for community service projects, they're hidden away under some other tab, it would be nice to have a tab for that, a one stop shop for all FBLA Community service Projects.
Come out with new items in the FBLA MarketPlace. This can include FBLA rings (similar to class rings and FBLA necklaces (for the ladies). Start a Facebook Page and host a giveaway contest as well as put items on sale during Regionals or State Conferences.
I just watched a video from the opening session in 2007. What happened!?!? I don't want to down any other speakers that FBLA may have, but this is the type of entertainment that our students want. Yes I do enjoy my share of real business people and inspirational stories, but why not have that mixed in with...well some of this. What if FBLA-PBL opened up an internship to update and maintain the mobile FBLA-PBL website? This would open up opportunities for students to get more involved, gain experience, and possibly get a letter of reference.
The current FBLA-PBL website provides the basic information about FBLA-PBL but does not do a good job of going beyond the basics. Many sections of the site are almost never updated and have outdated information. The website also doesn't market the experience and brand of FBLA-PBL while providing important and interesting information for members/advisers. Every member of FBLA-PBL has a story. Members, Advisers, and many more use these stories as inspirational tools to push their students to do better. We should have a spot somewhere for people to write in about their story and how FBLA-PBL has helped them. These stories can also be used in recruitment tools and chapter activation tools. Boards love stories that hit close to home.
I am a freshman (High School in PR starts in 10th grade) belonging to the Comercial Education Program of my school. FBLA is technically dead in my school. Most students in the Program don't even know what it is. And the teacher in charge doesn't orientate. I want to take the idea of the NLC Photo Booth and make it more readily available to chapters and states the idea is to make it more streamlined so that is easily doable without all the extra equipment. Each state or chapter would be able to connect their Facebook account and have the photos automatically upload to their page. They would also be able to select their logo and the colors for the text.
A lot of our State Leadership Conferences have National Officers present at them...but a lot don't unfortunately! I believe that if the National Officers create brief videos as an update for our national programs for State Leadership Conferences they are unable to attend, we'd be able to foster a better sense of communication with our local chapters.
