We all know how awesome our own states are (FBLA and/or PBL) but we may not know how awesome other states are. Let's celebrate them with a little friendly competition (beyond the traditional Competitive Events program). The "Best Of" could recgonize the top state websites, PR material, innovative program, BAA participants, etc. This could be an yearly or once-every-two years type of program. A task force of local advisers, ...more »
Do we have one for FBLA? If not is it possible to get one for the NLC that would connect to the webpage were the top 15 placewinners are posted? Thanks for considering.
With people now retiring later and later because of the lack of money, I believe a competitive event focusing on different types of investments could be a game changer for the "Future Business Leaders of America." The test can include investments vehicles from the lower risk bonds, money market accounts, and annuities, to the higher risk stocks, options, futures, and forex (Foreign Exchange). The way to grade the skills ...more »
As of now, the competitive events have a limit at NLC of one chapter, and either a team or individual event. Often times at the State Leadership Conferences, people win/qualify in several events in each group, therefore forcing them to choose one event and possibly leave a team event that would also do well. Since many of these people are quite successful members, it is a shame to force them out of an event. For this ...more »
As the competitive events program grows, our organization should consider implementing a Child Care Administration event, given the importance and size of the child care industry in today's society.
PBL needs a Public Relations event. I think it should be similar to the Analysis & Decision Making events or Integrated Marketing Campaign.
Many students play a stock market game in their HS business classes, and it is quite popular. The current stock market game would get more attention if you didn't have to pay for it and if it were an actual competitive event. Make this a competitive event, and it would probably be quite popular.
The Website Design competition currently allows teams to use a template instead of building a site from scratch. This competition was formerly named "Website Development", meaning that one must build their site from scratch. Filling in a template does not represent adequate knowledge of website development code, and someone who does this should not be considered over someone who worked 50+ hours building a website from ...more »
I think FBLA should integrated competitive events related to administrative support and office management, such as Office Administrative Procedures, Document Management, Records Management, Legal and Medical Office Procedures, etc.
FBLA should take the entrepreneurship competitive event and turn it into to separate events, one for the start-up type companies we're seeing today, and another for small businesses. I competed through nationals and felt that it focused too much on traditional entrepreneurship such as franchising and starting a physical store.
The competitive events handbook was re-designed this year and its looks great. While the charts are very handy, the book is confusing to follow. Go back to a 1-page description of an event, and keep the summary chart info at the beginning. It is nice to look at one page for each event that has the complete info.
In Georgia FBLA there is a monopoly tournament that concludes at the state level. I believe by taking the winning team from each state there could be a massive game of monopoly played at nationals to see who is the best in the nation. I believe this will give students the opportunity to learn more related to money and making successful deals, but would also be a fun event at nationals!
